HOTEL ROOMS IN RIO

The Hotels we have for our clients in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil have a ‘4 Star’ rating and are very comfortable to stay in. Most Hotel rooms in Rio have 1 full/Queen size bed or 2 twin size beds and one bathroom.  Some hotels come with breakfast included.  All hotel room are cleaned daily.  Before you leave the hotel the desk attendant will ask that you leave you room key at the desk so you will not loss the key.  All rooms have safes for you to secure your valuable items.

IMPORTANT NOTE:  Hotels in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil ‘DO NOT’ allow guest, unless she is registered as your wife or he is husband!  The hotels that the Balhers Travel Club will utilize will be 1-3 blocks from the beach in Ipanema or Copacabana in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

This can also save you a great deal if you want to budget a little more money toward enjoying Carnival rather then for a hotel room offered by US based hotel chain i.e. Hilton, Marriott.

When is Carnival in Rio Brazil?

The Carnival in Rio 2009 is Scheduled for February 21 - 24, 2009.  This falls on the last 4 days prior to Ash Wednesday.  In England, we celebrate it on Shrove Tuesday, quietly at home with pancakes.  In Brazil they celebrate it with drums, dancing and singing in the streets in an explosion of colour and costumes.  Schools and businesses close as the whole country shuts down for wild celebrations.  There are Carnival parades in almost every town and city but the biggest by far is in Rio de Janeiro.

Are your taxes and fees included in your airfare ticket price?  If not you are soley responsible for paying them and will not be allowed to leave Brazil until they have been paid.

We have a tour guide/translater waiting for you upon arrival at the airport so that you can avoid the many semi-legal and illegal taxi drivers that approach you like a pack of dogs. Brazil, this otherwise appealing country, can loose a lot of its appeal at this point moment.

In Copacabana or Ipanema, a transfer with tour guide/translater from the international airport to a beachfront hotel/apartment at the Copacabana is included with "Go to Carnival in Rio de Janeiro 2009" package; a taxi is usually reasonable, but as a non-Brazilian the taxi driver will charge you much more by only talking to you in Portuguese.

A "Go to Carnival" tour guide/translater does not only pick you up, he or she speaks fluent English. You can have 24/7 "BTC Direct Connect Cell Phone" capability, you are never alone.  A good tour operator would also give you an emergency phone number for your time in Brazil.  Not only would they help you with problems with your tour package but, certainly also in case of any other type of emergency.  I will say it once again, 24/7 "BTC Direct Connect Cell Phones" you are never separated from us, friends, loved ones, or even business contacts if you want to connect with them back in the US.  One daily rate, unlimited use.

Traveling to Brazil in a group can be fun and it is less expensive and dangerous then traveling individually.  If you choose to travel individually, you should still try to book your package through a Tour Operator who normally offers group tours.  The volume they have generally allows them to offer individual packages at affordable prices, with the security of knowing someone is there to help you.

Don't travel on a tight budget!  While official 3 to 5 star hotel/apartments offer much the same standard as in the rest of the world.  But cheaper hotels can leave very little to be desired. Therefore be careful with offers that say 999 US$ one week Rio de Janeiro packages including airfare.  Consider an apartment, you can purchase some of the local fresh fish and produce to be prepared in your own apartment by one of our chef's or yourself to fit your taste or special needs.  Then invite some of those fellow traveler's over to dine on some the finest Brazillian cuisine in the world.
